H&E Smith Completes First Installation for Westminster Public Art Project

We’re proud to announce that the first installation of the Westminster Public Art Project at Victoria Embankment is now complete! As part of this ambitious initiative, H&E Smith has been supplying bespoke ceramic tiles featuring artwork by renowned artist James Lambert, in collaboration with Digital Ceramics, who provided the intricate designs.

Bringing Art to Public Spaces – One Tile at a Time

Commissioned by Westminster City Council, this project aims to enhance public spaces through vibrant, contemporary art. Victoria Embankment is the first of eight key locations to feature James Lambert’s striking patterned designs.

Following the success of Victoria Embankment, we are now working on the second installation at Parliament Street, ensuring that Westminster’s public spaces continue to be transformed with beautiful, durable, and artistically rich tilework.

A Collaboration of Craftsmanship and Creativity

James Lambert’s signature style—bold, graphic, and rich in storytelling—has been meticulously recreated using our advanced tile manufacturing techniques and Digital Ceramics’ printing expertise. This project is a perfect blend of heritage craftsmanship and contemporary design, ensuring that the artwork remains an enduring feature of Westminster’s streetscape.

“H&E Smith has a long tradition of producing high-quality, bespoke tiles that not only stand the test of time but also serve as a canvas for artistic expression,” said Fred Smith, Managing Director at H&E Smith. “It’s been fantastic to see Victoria Embankment come to life, and we’re excited to continue our work on Parliament Street.”
