Adaptavate partners with Jewson to bring Breathaplasta to builders nationwide
Adaptavate, a world leader in developing and industrialising low-carbon and carbon-negative construction materials, has signed an agreement with Jewson, one of the UK’s largest builders’ merchants, to stock and sell Breathaplasta in Jewson stores across the country.
Breathaplasta is Adaptavate’s first market-ready product range, consisting of Breathaplasta Thermal, Breathaplasta Universal and Breathaplasta Smooth— a collection of fast-setting, lime-based plasters designed for ease of use by builders. These innovative plasters passively regulate indoor humidity, keeping walls warm and dry and reducing the risk of condensation and mould.
Over the past year, Breathaplasta has rapidly expanded its presence in the UK market, achieving 45% revenue growth. The product has been used in high-profile commercial retrofit projects, including Sustainable Workspaces and Holbein Gardens.
Tom Robinson, CEO and founder of Adaptavate, said: “What began as an idea on a building site—experimenting with mixes—has evolved into an industry-trusted, widely specified range of plaster products for mould and condensation issues. At Adaptavate, we are developing materials that will drive the transition to healthier, low-carbon, and carbon-negative building solutions. Breathaplasta was created by builders, for builders, and this partnership with Jewson marks a huge step in making our work more accessible, bringing it closer to people’s walls and vans. It’s humbling to think that what started as a small idea is now on the shelves and in the yards of one of the country’s largest merchants.”
Matthew Handley, Innovations Manager at Jewson, said: “It’s a true pleasure to be able to bring a product like this to our customers. At Jewson we are proud partners to the trade and giving them the ability to access Breathaplasta at a local level through our branch network is another step towards more sustainable construction.
Partnering with companies like Adaptavate who have a clear mission and a passion for innovation is an easy choice for us as the values we share are extensive. Developing the solutions and access for tradespeople to build more sustainably is our shared responsibility and our collective goal.”
The first Jewson branches already stocking and selling Breathaplasta are Norwich, Romford and Tavistock, with more stores set to launch later this year. Adaptavate aims to make Breathaplasta available in every major builders’ merchant across the UK within the next three years.
